AGILE PRACTITIONER EXTENSION
Agile requirements engineering is the approach to requirements engineering in any context that follows the principles of agile software development as outlined in the Agile Manifesto.
A requirements engineer on an Agile project will work differently than one working on a traditional project. Requirements engineers must understand the values and principles that underpin Agile projects, and how they are an integral part of a whole-team approach together with developers and business representatives.
The Agile Practitioner Extension will give the requirements engineer the knowledge to be part of agile teams and achieve high performance.
Being part of the Foundation Level qualification, The Agile Practitioner Extension is aimed at professionals who need to demonstrate practical knowledge of the fundamental concepts of requirements engineering in agile context. This includes people in roles such as product owners, scrum masters, requirements analysts, requirements developers, requirements managers, business analysts, portfolio managers, business managers, software developers, testers, architects and IT Professionals in general.
The Agile Practitioner qualification is also appropriate for anyone who needs a basic understanding of requirements engineering when working in agile organizations, such as project managers, quality managers, software development managers, IT directors and management consultants.
What are the entry criteria?
None, but a good knowledge of the Foundation level syllabus is recommended for the exam.
Which levels are available after the Agile Practitioner Extension?
The Agile Practitioner Extension currently does not have any follow-up module.
However, as holders of a Foundation certificate, candidates are eligible to continue on to higher level requirements engineering qualifications, certifying themselves at Advanced level, and then at the Expert level, when this will be available.
